The AVMA's Veterinary Economics Division included professional quality of life questions into its annual survey. They found three factors statistically significant two years in a row in contributing to compassion fatigue:
- Satisfaction with current employment
- Hours worked per week
- Educational preparedness for performing veterinary service.
