Cari Wise

Dr. Cari Wise is a 1999 graduate of the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a Masters degree in Education from Argosy University in 2015. Throughout her career, Dr. Wise has utilized her veterinary education in variety of settings including private and corporate small animal practice, shelter medicine, spay/neuter clinics, veterinary relief services, start-up practice ownership, and veterinary technician education.

Factors Contributing to Compassion Fatigue: New Data

The AVMA's Veterinary Economics Division included professional quality of life questions into its annual survey.  They found three factors statistically significant two years in a row in contributing to compassion fatigue: 

  1. Satisfaction with current employment
  2. Hours worked per week
  3. Educational preparedness for performing veterinary service.

Good News! The 2016 AVMA Report on the Market for Veterinarians found the employment outlook for veterinarians continues to improve, with greatest improvements being seen in the US.  “The largest markets for veterinarians are those of private practice (e.g., companion animal, food animal, equine and mixed animal), comprising roughly three-quarters of all active veterinarians."  Read the full post from Avma.org
