January Spotlight Veterinarian: Dr. Feli Tantiyatyanon
January's Veterinarian Spotlight is Dr. Felicitas Tantiyatyanon, DVM.
(Dr. Tan) is the owner and operator of “Leo Veterinary Care." She named the practice after her beloved childhood Persian cat who always had the spirit of a lion. Dr Tan was raised in Bangkok, Thailand.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Northern Arizona University. She continued her studies in California where she received the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Western University of Health Sciences in 2009. Since graduation she completed an internship in small animal emergency, surgery and internal medicine.

Everywhere you go, and everywhere you look, people are on their phones. Technology continues to advance and more apps and information are available to us. I believe there is a time and a place for cell phones, but what about at work? That is the last place that I would say you should use your cell phone. But, I must say that there are some wonderful veterinary apps that can be very useful in clinical practice!

I have seen a lot of conflicting reports about the veterinary job market over the past couple of years. One report will say that the outlook is great and tremendous growth is expected in our profession. Others will say that we are graduating too many veterinarians and the job market is becoming saturated, resulting in less pay for veterinarians. With increasing amounts of student debt, this is a recipe for these new graduates to be buried in loans they can't pay back. Well, which is it? Good economics or bad? What can we expect in our profession for this year, and what can you do as a veterinary student to make sure you are competitive when you graduate?
