Vet School, Would You Do It Again? Why so many are saying NO!

Would you still pick veterinary medicine as your career? Would you attend veterinarian school again? Do you have any Vet School regrets? To find out, in a June poll, we asked that question. With just over 100 responses so far, the results are discouraging. 

The majority of respondents, 42%, said No, and 20% said they Didn’t Know.  Only 38% said Yes, they would do it again.

What Not to do on Vet School Summer Break

As you know, Vet School is a full time job.  For months at a time you eat, drink, sleep and dream veterinary anatomy, physiology, parasites, viruses, bacteria, etc., etc., etc..  The list goes on and on.  

For some of you, summer brings a long-awaited break.  For others, those breaks from classes take place at different times of the year.  Regardless of when it occurs, there are some things you just should not do during your time off.

Bad News, Vet Student

We have the best job in the world, at least I think so.  And you probably think so too, since you are a Vet Student happily giving up years of your life for vet school to become a veterinarian.

You are likely envisioning a life of puppies and kittens, foals and calves, kids and lambs, chicks, piglets, and crias.  You get the idea.  But, as you know, not all days will be happy ones in the world of veterinary medicine.

February Spotlight Veterinarian-  Dr. Brent Mayabb

Brent Mayabb, DVM, is the Vice President, Corporate Affairs for Royal Canin USA, located in St. Charles, Missouri. He completed his undergraduate work at Murray State University in Murray, KY, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry.

Dr. Mayabb completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou) and worked as an associate veterinarian for several years prior to joining Royal Canin.
