Like many of you reading this article, I was also one of those kids that was absolutely determined to be a Veterinarian when I grew up. Throughout high school, I took many AP classes and studied really hard for the SAT to help get in to a good college.
There have been two cases of Canine Influenza Virus H3N2 confirmed in Idaho this week. There have also recently been cases in the San Francisco area, Texas, and the East coast.
There is currently a
Streptococcus zooepidemicus
outbreak at a shelter in Phoenix, AZ. Our veterinary practice is in Phoenix, so we have been on high alert for dogs with potential exposure and respiratory symptoms.

Ah, the dreaded task. We do everything possible to provide excellent customer service to our clients and the best medical care to our patients. Although rare, the need to fire a veterinary client from the practice may arise at some point during your career.
I have seen thousands of clients, and as I mentioned in my recent blog post (5 types of Clients and How to Handle them), have only had to fire a few in the past (almost 14 years). The circumstances were beyond repair, and I was faced with having to actually carry out this process myself. So, what happens?

I got the call on January 12th 2017 from my parents across the country in California that their/our 10.5 year-old Golden Doodle, “Yankee” had just experienced a generalized seizure, the first of his life.
It lasted for what seemed like an eternity but was probably just a few minutes and my parents were extremely worried. Fortunately, the episode subsided and no additional seizures occurred immediately after.
