Nationwide, with many states approving the use of not only medical but recreational marijuana use, the toxicity in pets has skyrocketed. The drug is more accessible and dogs are drawn to it.
For many students getting into veterinarian school is the culmination of a lifelong dream, years of preparation, time, money, hopes and sacrifice. In undergrad, while your liberal arts major friends were off drinking on Thursday night, you were struggling to finish that organic chemistry lab for 8am Friday morning.
You spent all of Homecoming week cramming for the GRE and all of Thanksgiving break getting your first round of school applications completed. You spent hundreds of dollars filling out those supplemental applications and lived off Ramen noodles so you could save money to go to interviews. When all of your friends were sleeping in on Saturday morning, you were going to your weekend job at an animal hospital cleaning kennels or mucking out stalls.
It is a huge deal to get into veterinary school. It takes a strong personality, a smart mind, and perseverance. I had to apply to vet school 3 times before I got in. I cried when I got my first acceptance letter. I was so happy.

With Thanksgiving being right around the corner, there’s a high chance you will see pancreatitis cases this time of the year. If you have a canine patient that is having symptoms such as vomiting and anorexia and possibly other clinical signs such as diarrhea, lethargy and a painful abdomen, then one possible differential is pancreatitis.

One of the things I love most about my job is that I get to go to veterinary schools and talk to students from all walks of life.
Part of this talk is an interactive anonymous poll that asks “Y/N: Sometimes I feel inadequate and incompetent, despite evidence that indicates I'm actually smart and successful at things I put my mind to.”
You can probably guess that at every school an average of 98% of respondents chose Yes. (And I kinda don’t believe the other 2%--maybe their finger slipped or something).
